@ There are three primary classifications of eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. All three disorders share the common characteristics of misuse of food and preoccupation or concern regarding weight and appearance. The typical age of onset is adolescents and young adulthood, however there are increasing numbers of individuals who are much younger or older than this average who are presenting with significant life impairing issues (Steiner & Lock , 1998 )
